The house you refer to is a villa built by cabinetmaker William Hallett in 1760.Arkay60https://www.blogger.com/profile/01315686656031037887noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-839525549786745818.post-6659692669325629662015-08-09T11:58:20.147+01:002015-08-09T11:58:20.147+01:00Thank you, Jude!Thank you, Jude!Catherine Curzonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05763562687608837832noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-839525549786745818.post-46502871139084941832015-08-09T01:14:28.296+01:002015-08-09T01:14:28.296+01:00Lovely article, as always.Lovely article, as always.Jude Knighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07640421419909570422noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-839525549786745818.post-80233633778878433642014-08-09T16:39:17.435+01:002014-08-09T16:39:17.435+01:00Great-great uncle!Great-great uncle!Catherine Curzonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05763562687608837832noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-839525549786745818.post-70639532828679043002014-08-09T12:02:11.995+01:002014-08-09T12:02:11.995+01:00...and a distant kin of Jane Austen on her Mothers......and a distant kin of Jane Austen on her Mothers side?Gem Twitchernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-839525549786745818.post-75089398489169077332013-08-09T22:27:17.990+01:002013-08-09T22:27:17.990+01:00You are *very* lucky; what a place to go to school...You are *very* lucky; what a place to go to school!Catherine Curzonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05763562687608837832noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-839525549786745818.post-31547542370004178262013-08-09T21:34:59.801+01:002013-08-09T21:34:59.801+01:00OOOOOoooooh, I went to school in the Duke of Chand...OOOOOoooooh, I went to school in the Duke of Chandos' house. No kidding. I won a scholarship to North London Collegiate School which was opened in Victorian times by Frances Mary Bus, in the Duke of Chandos' house.
The sixth form rooms were in the old house proper and the history just seeped out of the walls. There was this fantastic marble staircase and I used to fantasise about coming down those stairs in a ball gown! There can't be many school that have a rose garden, a folly and greek statues in the junior playground!
Grace xGrace Elliothttp://graceelliot-author.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-839525549786745818.post-90294494232142520312013-08-09T12:24:13.093+01:002013-08-09T12:24:13.093+01:00He certainly knew how to spend! He certainly knew how to spend!Catherine Curzonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05763562687608837832noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-839525549786745818.post-80756320970832965312013-08-09T11:23:00.537+01:002013-08-09T11:23:00.537+01:00Ha ha...
