A Salon Guest: Kristi Jun

I am thrilled to welcome Kristi Jun to the salon today, to discuss how debut Regency, Enemy’s Kiss. Do read on to learn more about Kristi and just how she fits her writing career into a busy life!

---oOo---

Thank you for the opportunity to be a guest on your blog today. My name is Kristi Jun. I write Regency Romance with a twist of suspense. Enemy's Kiss is my debut novel and available exclusively on Amazon.

What compelled you to write?
I've always had stories in my head and characters talking to me even as a young girl. I wanted to tell the stories. I wrote my first novel in 5th grade in my history class in a spiral notebook. I was hooked. I kept writing but it wasn't until I received my graduate degree that I finished my first novel and started submitting to agents and editors.

What are you working on now?
I am working on a Regency Romance series called Sinful Ladies of London. The first book, Sinful Pleasures, will be released late Fall of this year. It's about three women coming together in most unusual circumstances to start a school for fallen women. And, of course, each heroine will have her happily-ever-after.

What is your favorite genre?
As you can guess, it's Regency Romance. I love the ceremony, sensibility of the period, the balls and the chivalry. I can't get enough!

Where do you get your stories? What is your writing process?
Everywhere. Sometimes it comes to me while I am doing the dishes, watching a movie, or reading a book. Sometimes I have an idea or theme that I want to explore.
My writing process is, what I like to call, an organic process. I don't outline or plot much, other than the theme, black moment and a few scenes I have in my head. I do know a little bit about the characters back stories, but I really learn about the characters as I write. I get to know them intimately and their strengths and weaknesses.

Do you have scheduled time to write? How long does it take you to finish a novel?
I teach during the day three times a week, so on the days that I am teaching, it's nearly impossible to write. I may get half an hour or an hour in after I am done with helping my son with homework and dinner. I write mostly on my days off and on the weekends. I am a slow writer so it takes me several months to finish my first draft. Another month or two for my second and third drafts.

Is there a romance author you admire?
I admire many romance authors, but one in particular is Nora Roberts. I had the opportunity to attend one of her workshops at a conference. I admire her work ethics, her professionalism, and her honesty.

Are your friends and family supportive of your craft?
Most of my friends are romance writers so they are very supportive of my journey. My family, especially my sister, has been my cheerleader since the beginning.

Where can we visit you online?
Come by and say hello! I'd love to hear from readers and friends!

Enemy's Kiss

She gave up her future for justice...
Emma Willoughby had an idyllic life until her parents were murdered and her world, as she knew it, came undone. She sacrificed everything and even accepted a marriage proposal from a man she thinks knows the identity of the killer. Unfortunately, he is murdered before she’s able to discover the truth. Now the Crown claims a mission to Tibet will bring the answers she seeks. The trouble is, the man who has been assigned to protect her, a man she'd once deceived, is an arrogant spy who wants nothing to do with her.

He lived a lie to protect his family...
Michael Whitfield left home nearly a decade ago, but when his childhood friend is murdered and accused of high treason, he is determined to clear his name and his killer be brought to justice no matter the cost, even if it meant accompanying the woman who turned out to be nothing more than a heartless viper. But as their mission takes twisted turns and reveals a sinister plot that threatens both their lives and the lives of the innocent, his admiration for her grows and sparks between them once again ignite. But can he trust his heart to a woman whose history holds nothing but lies?
